Park Run

This morning, I participated in the Park Run for the first time.  As you can see, it was a beautiful morning but Brockwell was rather flooded.  Where you see puddle, there should be tarmac.

A little over two years ago I did my one and only run with Dulwich Runners.  The next day I was diagnosed with aggressive, stage 4 breast cancer.  My first words to the doctor were "But I ran 11km yesterday!".  I've always felt sheepish because I never returned to the club.  Chemo got in the way and since then I've felt too slow and fat to go back to them.

The lady who looked after me on that run, two years ago, was there today.  It was as much as I could do not to cry when I said hello and explained what had happened.  She was lovely, "Whenever you feel like it, you know where we are", she said.  "I'm not fast anymore", I replied.

"But that doesn't matter".

And she's right.

  1. Nice one, Charlie. You even make me (almost) want to join a running club!
